The Benefits
Epoxy floors have many benefits over other conventional flooring systems. It is very versatile under many harsh conditions whether outside or in. It can be designed to meet your particular style or taste and is very easy to maintain. Epoxy floors are also environmentally friendly with very low VOC (volatile organic compound). It also has a long life span. Long gone are the days when you have to use degreasers or other harsh chemicals to clean surfaces or the adverse effects old chemical methods ( solvents) would have on the environment..
The benefits of using epoxy over tiles means you will have no grout lines to clean. Epoxy floors are seamless so there is no buildup of mould or mildew. The seamless nature of epoxy makes it so bacteria has nowhere to grow.
Epoxy also has many benefits over polished concrete. It can be customized to suit your taste, whereas polished concrete is a one choice suits all. Polished concrete when wet can be very slippery making it a potential hazard for children and elderly people. Epoxy can have non-slip added to prevent this hazard from happening.
Through adding a non -slip additive your floor will be safe to walk on if wet. This may be a result of rain, spilt drinks, oil spills or other causes withen and outside of the home such as patios, garages, and kitchens to name a few. Despite the numerous advantages over current flooring options epoxy is susceptible to acid and substantially heavy sharp objects either coming into contact with it or being dropped on it.
An Epoxy floor will also increase the value of your home leaving a lasting impression on a prospective buyer and can add that wow factor that decides the sale.
How we do it
No two floors are alike. Every concrete substrate has its own characteristics.
First we assess the state your concrete slab and the condition it is in. Then we grind the laitence or the surface of your slab in order to see how porous it is. This will determine whether we have to prime coat your concrete substrate or not. Once your prime coat has set, (usually the following day) we base coat and flake the floor. On the third day we sand back the flake and add a polyurethane top coat. This not only seals the floor but gives it added protection against every day use. It also gives your floor that new shiny look.
